nicknames...

over the past week, this has been my view. well...maybe not all week. maybe just friday afternoon. but the beach looks a lot different with a newborn. thats for sure! but i am not complaining at all because it was a great week with my husband, boys, and family and i wasn't sitting at home.

being with my family is always lots of fun. there were 35 of us in all staying in 3 houses. there were many laughs and lots of relaxing. eli did get a serious "Boo" addiction while we were there. we are now onto a 12 step detox for him. :)

now my family is a little weird in that we love being together and no one is called by their formal name. for example, aunt beth= b; parker= parker-do, p, or little p; aunt deb= deedee, debra; uncle don=boo; april=apes; meredith=mere, becca, mary becca; eli=little e and so on. now that ty has entered the family, my aunts took it upon themselves to give ty a few nicknames.
here are a few:
tyree (his middle name is tyre, pronounced "tire" but everyone thinks its ty-ree), mr. t, nugget, country ham, and little e (since everyone says he looks like eli).

so ty shouldn't feel left out. he now has plenty of his own nicknames.

ballparks and big brothers...

the boys and i ventured out on wednesday. we traveled to wally world, ate mexican with nene and boo (ty isn't too fond of the hot salsa), and to the ballpark to pick up daddy after his double-header. we made it just in time for the final out of the second game. :)

big brother has had mixed emotions concerning his little brother. he thoroughly enjoys holding ty and is very interested in all he does. he wants to watch him laying down, give him his pacifier, and check out how he eats. but he definitely having a hard time when mommy is preoccupied with ty's needs. he has figured out while i'm nursing, i can't just go and check out what he is doing. i have to make sure all doors are shut...esp the pantry door. :) he has also had a really hard time with the word "no". he pitches a lot of fits right now when chris or me have to tell him no. hopefully this little phase will pass.

i did check a sweet moment on my camera the other day. i had laid ty down for a minute on the couch while i tried to load a few dishes. the next thing i knew, eli was trying to crawl up and catch a glimpse of ty. he laid his head down beside ty and just stared at him. it was so adorable!

here is eli helping give ty his first bath.
ty did not like his bath at all!!!!!
these two kids are NOTHING alike so far.

here are a few of their differences:
e: no hair
t: head full of black hair

e: looks like mommy
t: couldn't look more like his daddy

e: would never sleep on his back
t: loves to be on his back

e: paci sucker with the best of them
t: will take a paci but won't keep it long

e: very alert
t: loves to sleep (not complaining about this one!!)

i do have to say, i love these boys so much and can't wait for them to be old enough to play together and become the best of friends.

pics of ty...finally(2nd try)!

ok...this is a long post. picture overload. but first i want to begin with a couple of differences between child #1 and child #2...
child #1-photographer in the delivery room
child #2-mother takes pics after telling her what pics to take

child#1-don't want to leave hospital and make nurse put him in his car seat the first time
child#2-beg dr to let you go home after 24 hrs. and have baby in car seat before nurse discharges you

child #1-early to first dr appointment
child #2-sleep through first dr appointment...oops!

child#1-come home and ask everyone to stay away for a day or two
child#2-10 person dinner party night you come home (cooked by my mom of course!)

child#1-all cameras charged and ready
child#2-run out of battery day home from hospital and can't find charger until day 8 of baby's life

things really change the second time around. i even cut ty's finger nails the day after we got home from the hospital. oops, again! and i can't really remember what to do with his circumcision...any help with this would be appreciated. and finally, here are the pics of the day ty was born...

here comes #2!
when eli was born it was football season, so when i got to 7 cm, chris played uga's 4th quarter song (for lack of a better word...my editor is asleep) and we held up our 4's. since ty was born during baseball season, he played harry caray's version of "take me out to the ball game" when i hit 7 cm...for the 7th cm stretch.
mere checking in on her sister
i know this could be gross to you but it captures coach ak in action! look at the look on his face...priceless! and the nurse in the pic happens to be my mom's 1st cousin. pretty neat!
first pic of nolan tyre
check out that curly hair
little nugget
eli and chris telling the family the news that its a boy!
cheese. bless him. he had no idea what was about to happen to his life. he probably wouldn't have smiled then if he knew what he knows now. :)

eli's first glimpse of ty. he kept saying "baby"
daddy holding ty.
big eyes...but no where near what his brother's were like.
chris's lineup for 2027. i think he was a little excited about having another boy.
proud momma.
sweet little one.
eli coming back to visit on day 2.
momma and big brother time

checking out the baby

eli holding little ty
first kisses
a few pics from today. june 13.2011

a few newborn pics of eli...just to compare. the hair really throws me off. but i see more of chris in ty than i do in eli.

told you it was a lot of pics. hope you enjoyed.

Nolan Tyre "Ty" Akridge

We welcomed our second son, Ty, into the world June 2, 2011, which just happened to be my dad's birthday. I went in to the hospital the night before to prepare for my induction. We decided to go ahead and be induced on our due date since we are going out of town in 3 weeks. They started cervidil on Wednesday night around 7:30 pm and by 10:30 pm I was in active labor. And believe me, that didn't feel so good!! I got some good meds to hold me over until I got my epidural at 4:00 am and got a great night's sleep. Chris said I was even snoring...which I blame on the oxygen I was getting since I was so sedated from the meds they gave me. Did I mention the meds were good? They were! So much so that the room was spinning.

During my epidural, Chris got a little light-headed and almost passed out on me! He said he wasn't even watching. I think it had more to do with the fact that it was 4 am and he was hlaf asleep. Once I got the epidural, I slept until my doctor came in to check me around 7am. Things progressed a lot faster this time around and by 1pm I was ready to push. We got everything ready and Chris started his timer. He and my doctor, Dr. Harrison, had a bet going on how long I was going to need to push. Chris bet on 25 mins and Dr. H took the under. I pushed for a little over 13 mins so Dr. H won. However, Chris insists that Dr. H cheated because he performed an episiotomy to speed things up since Ty's heart rate kept going down during pushes.

The reason his heart rate kept going down was because his cord was wrapped loosely around his neck but the Lord took care of him and nothing seemed to hurt him. When he came out, Chris said, "It's another boy!" He also said he gave a fist pump when Ty came out and he realized he was a boy. I think it totally surprised my mom, who had been coaching me to "push! SHE's almost here" and "come on Lillie".

Again, we had a crowd of peeps in the waiting room. Chris told everyone it was a boy by giving Eli a little blue hat to carry out into the waiting room where everyone was waiting. I'm not sure Eli had any idea what was going on and why everyone was screaming and cheering at him.

Eli came back shortly after Ty was born to see his little brother. He looked at him, pointed and said "baby". He was quite a trooper though I'm still not sure he knows this baby is going to be with us from now on.

I will post pictures from the day once I get the time to download them to my computer. I still can't believe I have two little boys! Wow. This house is going to be crazy in a couple of years. Chris is super excited and is already planning out hunting and fishing trips, boxing rings, wiffle ball fields and tree houses. You guys can go ahead and start praying for me now! :)
