daddy: coaching lots of baseball, spending all other waking hours writing IEPs (which if you don't know what those are...be glad!) and trying to finish up his research for his specialist, all while being a great husband and father. i'm sure he will be glad when summer comes and he doesn't have anymore classes to take...though i do keep reminding him that we will have a newborn in our house again. so much for relaxing, huh?
mommy: growing and stretching, and not doing a lot of sleeping...which is how this blog was birthed. freaking out about having two little ones in the house and trying to rest when she can. oh yes, and attending lots of showers for little sisters--weddings and babies.
eli: talking more and more. he is saying all kinds of words: please, momma (finally!), juice, shoes, hands, socks, ears, orange, ba--which is his paci, ball, bat, hat, emmy and bec, and he yells, "jack!" whenever his friend jack is around. he is throwing everything and even has this cute little wind-up when holding a ball. he is also pitching lots of fits daily. hey, he may be small for his age, but he is advanced when it comes to acting like a "terrible two". he is doing better sleeping, most nights. he yells at the baseball games when daddy yells and he loves to talk whenever there is someone close to his size nearby. he has also discovered dirt and rocks, and likes to throw them both.
new baby: moving around, growing, and kicking "his" mommy so hard she stops dead in her tracks.

hide and seek...eli style
eli loves to play with his daddy's watch, among other things that he finds on daddy's night stand. whenever he walks into our room, he heads straight for daddy's nightstand to see what "toy" he can find to occupy his time.
on saturday night, eli has walking around the room playing with chris's watch. chris and i were both focused on other things and didn't see where eli ended up putting the watch down. and to be honest, neither of us even thought about the watch until sunday morning when chris went to put it on. when he noticed the watch was missing, he reminded me that eli had been playing with it the night before. then he asked me if i remembered where he put it. i had no idea. so chris and i started looking all over the house for the missing time-teller. we looked under beds, couches, chairs. in cabinets, baskets, bowls, closets, pantries, and drawers. anywhere a little toddler might lay something down...we searched and searched to no avail.
then chris went up to eli, who was totally unaware of what mommy and daddy were doing, and asked him while pointing to his wrist, "eli, where is daddy's watch?" i laughed out loud. "really, chris? do you really think he remembers where he put a watch down last night?" eli just smiled at him and made the same motion with his little fingers pointing to his wrist. we quickly gave up on that game and headed out the door to church.
all throughout the day chris continued searching for the watch and asking eli, "where is daddy's watch?" every time eli was asked, he just smiled and pointed to his own wrist. i kept thinking back to what was happening while eli had been playing with it the night before and the only place i thought it could have been was perhaps the dryer. you see, eli loves to take the clothes from the washer to the dryer and he had helped me the night before. i mentioned that to chris so he took the clothes out of the dryer and began folding them in the den.
i was lying on the couch watching the great job chris was doing folding the clothes when eli came into the room with the watch in his hand! i turned to look at what he was holding and burst out laughing. chris looked at me like "what is so funny?" and i just said through laughter, "please look at what eli has in his hand!"
i guess he was done fooling his parents and had gotten enough humor out of watching us rack our brains all day and search high and low for chris's watch. this kid cracks me up! who knows where that thing was hidden.

thankful thursday...
28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. this thankful thursday is all about God's provisions and answered prayers. my cbs bible study recently challenged me to get specific in my prayer requests, just as isaac's servant did when he went on his search for rebekah. so i started praying for specific needs we had at our house...some big and some small and God has worked wonders! but i tell you, it didn't come without having to first let go of our finances...that is, giving Him our first fruits of labor each month.
the first prayer was that chris's student loan would be forgiven within the month. for those of you who don't know, the federal gov will forgive certain teachers of their student loans if they teach for 5 years in a title 1 school in a specific field. since he has taught in a title 1 school for 5 years, we applied for his loan to be forgiven and at first it was denied because they lost part of his paper work. so we tried again, and this time i prayed specifically that it be forgiven and asked that it go away in the month of january. one week after starting this prayer we got this paper in the mail...
i opened it and began crying and then immediately called chris to tell him the good news! what a weight lifted off of us financially. that was basically like a monthly pay raise! praise GOD!!
the second prayer is kind of petty but i recently borrowed some very cute maternity clothes from a great friend and she gave me so many things that would look so cute with brown boots. i warned you this was petty. so i went on a search for brown boots but since its the end of the season and i wear probably the most common female shoe size, 8, i have had no luck. so earlier this week, i started praying for God to help me find some boots at a good price. then i received this package in the mail today from an amazing friend...
i cannot describe to you how cool it is for God to meet this little, petty need of mine. it truly made me feel cared for by my Savior. it is awesome that He is a God that knows all of our thoughts and desires and cares about meeting our needs.
i know that He will continue to prove Himself faithful throughout this season in our lives...as we strive to make it on one paycheck. and every month He increases my faith more and more and it has truly caused me to be a cheerful giver...for i know that nothing we have comes from our own work but from God alone. so i challenge you to pray for God to show you how much He desires from you and then watch Him work to provide all of your needs with the rest.

preggie sisters
here we are at mere's shower. em is 29 weeks here and i'm 27 weeks. big things are going on in this bluster family...may 7th-mere's wedding (at home, i might add), may 19th-em's due date, june 2nd-my due date! God has been so good to us and i am thankful to be enjoying these special moments with my family. just pray for mom and dad's sanity through these next few months.

days 47-61
i know we have been missing from action lately but sickness struck our house with a force like no other. we are never sick, so it kind of caught us off guard. so after a sinus infection-april, bronchitis-chris, and a stomach virus that hit all three of us...and mere and dad, we are back! because of these issues, i am missing a few days of photos. i guess my brain wasn't thinking about taking pictures during that time.
